I'm Kevin Elliott, Principal of Elliott Modern, a solo design and drafting consultancy based in Kalispell, Montana. I help builders, fabricators, and design teams turn ideas into clear drawings and working prototypes — CAD modeling, mechanical and electromechanical product design, and embedded firmware and electronics for non-regulated products.
Background
My work sits at the intersection of hardware and software: embedded systems, mechanical design, and the practical details of getting a product built. My background is in designing and documenting parts and assemblies, integrating electronics into physical products, and writing the firmware that makes those products behave the way they should.
Alongside that, I've taught and mentored people learning the craft — walking through drawings, reviewing designs, and helping others build confidence with CAD, prototyping, and electromechanical work. Teaching keeps me honest about the fundamentals, and it makes me a clearer collaborator when a project needs plain explanations instead of jargon.
Why this work
I like the moment an idea becomes something you can hold, measure, and improve. Good drawings remove guesswork. A solid prototype answers questions faster than another meeting. I started Elliott Modern to do that work directly with the people who need it — without layers of process between the problem and the person solving it.
Montana
I work from Kalispell, in northwest Montana. Remote collaboration is normal for me: shared files, clear milestones, and regular check-ins. Being here also means I understand the needs of builders and shops that value practical, buildable results over polished decks.
